Extension Privacy Policy
Learn how the "Image Extractor & Merger" Chrome Extension keeps your extracted images safe and private.
At MergeJPGs, we are committed to protecting the privacy of our extension users. This Privacy Policy document outlines what information is accessed, stored, and processed by the "Image Extractor & Merger" Chrome Extension.
1. No Collection of Personal Data
The "Image Extractor & Merger" Chrome Extension does not collect, store, or transmit any personally identifiable information (PII), such as names, email addresses, phone numbers, or account credentials.
2. Website Content & Image Extraction
The core function of the extension is to help you scan and download or merge images. The data is handled as follows:
- Active Tab Scanning: The extension only accesses image elements (URLs) on the active tab of your browser, and only after you initiate a scan by clicking the extension icon.
- Local Temporary Storage: Image assets and data URLs are stored temporarily in your browser's local memory (
chrome.storage.local) to let you select and preview them.
3. Client-Side Merging Transfer
If you choose to use the "Click to Merge Imgs" feature, the extension transfers the selected images as base64 data URLs to our website (https://www.mergejpgs.org) client-side using standard browser message passing (postMessage).
This data transfer happens entirely in your local browser sandbox. The images are loaded directly onto the website's HTML5 Canvas. **None of your images are uploaded, stored, or processed on our web servers.**
4. No Ad Tracking or Cookies
The extension package itself does not use cookies, does not serve advertisements, and does not contain any third-party tracking scripts (such as Google Analytics). Your search queries, browsing history, and page scanning activities are completely private and are never sent to third parties.
5. Data Security
Because no image files or webpage data are transmitted outside the local browser environment (except for client-side rendering on our tool site), your data is inherently protected by your own browser security model.
6. Consent
By installing and using the "Image Extractor & Merger" Chrome Extension, you hereby consent to this Privacy Policy.
7. Contact Information
If you have any questions or require more information about our Extension Privacy Policy, please contact us via our Contact Us page or email us at support@mergejpgs.org.
